Program Description The two year Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technician program at College of the North Atlantic's Gander campus will prepare you for a career that can literally take you to new heights. Graduates of this program earn North American and European certification and can attend the Institute of Technology in Carlow, Ireland to earn an undergraduate degree in Aircraft Systems Maintenance in only one additional year. This two-year Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technician program offers training in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of aircraft and aircraft components. Some of the duties include: Perform aviation safety and airworthiness inspections Troubleshoot and repair fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters Safely perform ground handling and routine inspections Perform power plant and structural repairs Troubleshoot and repair aircraft systems and avionics Outcomes Demonstrate safety practices in the aviation industry. Demonstrate skills and knowledge required to work in the aircraft maintenance field. Develop and strengthen the related knowledge and skill in subjects which complement and support the technical training. Demonstrate positive attitudes and behavior that will enable me to become successful in the industry. Meet the requirements for three Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licenses: M1-Small aircraft, M2- Large aircraft and E-Avionics
